First of all, I, on behalf of the Nepal-Korea Friendship Association and, on my own, would like to extend our warmest thanks and loving appreciation to all Comrades in the “Arab Committee for Friendship and Solidarity with the Korean People” and the related Friendship and Solidarity Regional Committee for organizing such an important and inspiring Forum. I wish a grand success to the Forum
Let me allow to enter into the subject matter
Korea, one of the ancient nations of the world having a history of five thousand years, is a country of proud tradition of independence and self-reliance. But being surrounded by three big and powerful countries, it had been compelled to experience so many horrible acts in the past and remnants of some of them have been torturing it till now. Some powers fought their wars in the Korean soil. They brought calamities to the Korean people and the nation. But the Japanese colonialists had harbored hostile intentions to control, subjugate and plunder Korea since the feudal times
Japan had invaded and seized Korea with 170, 000 strong armed force and 30 to 40 thousand strong navies in April 1592 and plundered it for 7 Years until 1598. Collaborating with the Western powers, time and again Japan had imposed humiliating treaties upon Korea, compelled Korea by force to be its protectorate in 1905 and ultimately merged it into the Japanese empire in 1910. Japanese colonialists not only plundered the wealth, minerals and every kind of natural resources of Korea, but also abducted large number of Koreans indiscriminately just to inhumanely make them their slaves and cannon-fodder. They robbed all kinds of Korean cultural and heritage assets. They even launched campaigns of changing the name and custom of Koreans to make them “Japanese” so that the name of Korean people could be erased out from the world and as a nation, Korea could be eliminated. Thus the Japanese colonialism was a devastating peril of Korea and the fight against it had been turned into a matter of existence for the Korean people.
Brave Korean people continuously fought against the foreign aggressors and colonialists since the feudal times and the fight became cruel and complicated specially after the full-fledged colonization by Japan since 1910. Many monarchist, feudal as well as bourgeois elites agitated politically, mainly using peaceful means against the heavily armed Japanese colonialists. There were some sporadic armed assaults too, against them by the nationalist armed groups. As the epoch-making 1917 Russian October socialist revolution brought a great change in the world-wide nationalist struggle, so was in Korea, too. Then many parties, groups and factions of Communists were formed in Korea, which engulfing in factional strife became totally divorced from the masses of the people. The Japanese colonial administration bought, misused, shattered and suppressed almost all of them by 1930, while the sincere, enlightened and militant anti-Japanese patriots spread in different favorable localities and engaged themselves in anti-Japanese clandestine activities
In such a chaotic situation, an enlightened and committed young leader Kim Il Sung, born to a poor peasant patriotic revolutionary family of Mangyongdae, a village nearby Pyongyang, gradually emerged in the scenario of the anti-Japanese struggle of the Korean people. His great grandfather was a patriot with a strong sense of justice. His grandfather Kim Po Hyon and grandmother Ri Po Ik led an upright life inspiring their children to fight on the road of revolution and national revolution. His father Mr. Kim Hyong Jik was an ardent patriot and a revolutionary leader as well as a teacher to him who guided him along the road of revolution from his childhood. His mother Kang Pan Sok, not only a good wife of a revolutionary man and an inspiring mother of a revolutionary leader in the making, was herself a leader of the Korean women’s liberation movement. His many close kith and kins joined the revolution pioneered by him and most of them gave their ultimate sacrifice to the revolution
Nurtured in patriotism and national liberation revolution by his grandparents and parents, educated by the achievements and failures of the past nationalist movements, inspired and made broad-minded and far-sighted by the 1917 Russian socialist revolution, the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung on October 17, 1926 formed the “Down with- Imperialism Union” (DIU). It was truly a Revolutionary Organization comprised of patriotic and revolutionary youth. Wading through the revolutionary practices, he solved the problem of creating the correct guiding ideology-the immortal Juche Idea. It advocates the popular masses are the master of the revolution and construction. It says man is the master of his destiny and he can shape out his own destiny. He first propounded the idea in a joint meeting of the leading cadres of the Communist Youth League and Anti-imperialist Youth League held in Kalun on June 30, 1930. Juche Idea clarified the questions of target and main force of the Anti-Japanese national liberation revolution and the armed struggle as its principal means. Thus, he formulated the line of the anti-Japanese armed struggle, anti-Japanese broad united front and founding the Juche-based Marxist revolutionary Party through the process of Anti-Japanese National Liberation Revolution
In course of struggle, Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung organized the Anti-Japanese People’s Guerrilla Army (subsequently renamed as the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army) on April 25, 1932. He set up several guerrilla bases in strategic localities and the one set up in the dense forest of Paektusan, remained as the headquarters of the Anti-Japanese armed Guerrilla struggle for relatively a long period since 1936. Such guerrilla bases were the strongholds of emancipated people where people enjoyed power through the revolutionary governments. They were the embryos of the revolutionary Korea
Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung later in May 5, 1936 organized the “Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland.” He himself took its leadership which rallied all the anti-Japanese forces at home and abroad. He himself commanded the armed assault against the Japanese colonialists’ citadel in Pochonbo in June 4, 1937 and completely destroyed that. It was a clarion call to the entire Korean people to rise against the Japanese colonialists in arms and liberate the country.
Japan was a member of the fascists clique comprising two others-Hitler’s Germany and Mussolini’s Italy which were rampaging several nations of the world since the beginning of the 2nd world war in September 1, 1939. The then allied powers- USSR, Great Britian and the USA as well as several other oppressed nations dragged in the war, like China, Korea, East European nations etc. were fighting against the colonialists and the fascist powers. The world-wide resistance against the fascism went on swelling. Fascists were defeated not only in the West but also in the East, though a bit later in August, 1945. Japan surrendered in 15 August, 1945 before the Korean people too, who were waging tenacious armed guerrilla struggle against Japanese colonialists under the leadership of Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung. At that time, under his command the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army led the nation-wide general offensive to establish the people’s power in every feasible locality to liberate the fatherland
Without any delay, Great Leader, through a Founding Conference held in Pyongyang in October 10, 1945, formed the Central Organizing Committee of the Communist Party of North Korea and declared the founding of the Party. In the third step in June 1949, it was developed and transformed into the Workers’ Party of Korea guided by Marxism and the Juche Idea
After the defeat of the Japanese colonialism, the US imperialism stepped in Korea categorically to obstruct the Korean National Liberation Revolution. The American imperialists had occupied the South Korea below (South of) the 38th latitude and they began to organize the rightists, reactionaries and anti-Communist forces there to wipe-out the Communist forces from their popular base in the North. The patriotic forces in the North would want the whole of Korea should remain one and liberated from the colonialist and imperialist domination. Hence, it was imperative for the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung to develop and reorganize the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army into a regular army, namely the Korean People’s Army, which was accomplished in 1948
On the basis of the people’s committees established throughout the country after the defeat of Japan in August 1945, the Provisional People’s Committee of North Korea, under the Chairmanship of the Great Leader was formed in Feb. 8, 1946. Confronting and defeating all schemes put forward by the US manipulators and their local flunkeys to divide Korea and obstruct the revolution, general elections to the Supreme People’s Assembly (SPA) were held simultaneously in both (North and South) parts of the country. The first session of the unified SPA was successfully held in Pyongyang in September and it, on the 9th of September, proclaimed the founding of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Comrade Kim Il Sung was elected Premier of the government and the head of state of the DPRK
Devoting 22 years of his youthful life and sacrificing many around him, the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung at last succeeded to rescue the utterly colonized and devastated Korea by establishing DPRK in September 9, 1948. But a new war to be unleashed by the US imperialism had stood awaiting. While the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung was making efforts to rebuild the war-ravaged DPRK, the US imperialism with full preparations provoked a war of aggression against DPRK on June 25, 1950 by instigating the puppet regime of South Korea. Although there were several unfavorable factors before the Korean People’s Army, it under the bold and wise leadership of the Great Leader dealt heavy blows against the aggressor army and chased it to the point of defeat to the South. Then the USA maneuvered its several accomplices and “UN Force” to fight against the KPA
The supportive role played by the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army to the KPA in the great the patriotic war has been remained commendable. The utterly devastating 3 years war ended on July 27, 1953 with the shameful defeat of the US imperialism, back to back the defeat of the Japanese colonialism in 1945. But the US imperialism has been dividing Korea in two parts the DPRK and the ROK (Republic of Korea) along the 38th latitude. As the armistice signed between the DPRK and the USA has not been replaced by a permanent peace treaty between them, the USA has been still at war with the DPRK. Generations of the supreme leaders as well as the people have been compelled to fight relentlessly against the colonialism and the imperialism along with building the Juche socialism for the better life of the Korean people
After July 8, 1994, Supreme Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il has faithfully carried forward the revolutionary cause pioneered by the Great Leader President Kim Il Sung, defended the DPRK against the US imperialism and its accomplices, energetically pushed forward the building of the Juche socialism for the happy life of the Korean People by holding high the banner of Songun politics nurtured by the Kimilsungism, the developed form of the great Juche Idea
After December 17, 2011, Supreme Leader Comrade Kim Jong Un has been successfully carrying forward the revolutionary tradition and has successfully transformed the DPRK into a nuclear-power country with ever expanding socialist national economy built overcoming the hundreds of imperialist sanctions and has heroically made the DPRK as a huge armory against the US imperialism and its accomplices!
The world has been passing through an unprecedented passage unseen in the last hundred years! The numerous sanctions, new cold war, the trade war, several local conflicts and local and regional wars all engineered by the imperialism headed by the US Superpower are the harbingers of the dismantling of the old global order and the birth of a new progressive global governance. The old global order could be shattered only by fighting against and defeating the US imperialism and its accomplices all over the world. Korean Revolution is the integral part of this campaign!
So let us support and work in solidarity with the Korean Revolution, the DPRK and its supreme leader
